Monday, 9/3/12

Tuesday, 9/4

Procedures:
  • Copy HW in agenda
  • Collect any early NTB alternative-ending assignments for Dojo points (optional)
  • Bell work: Identify and label parts of speech in each word of sentence on SMART Board.
  • Take U1P2 Pre-test –grade together as a class, or collect and grade it while students are working on workbook pgs.
    • Students who earned 100% may receive Alternative Assignment options for this week’s WW HW—due Thursday too.
  • Introduce this week’s Word Wisdom context clue—complete pages 12-13 in class. (“Unlock the meaning”)
  • Return U1P1 Post-test from last week. Correct answer to the Bonus (MUG Shot) on SMART Board together.
HW:
  • NBT Alternative-ending assignment due tomorrow.
  • Complete WW pages 14-17, due Thursday.
  • Prepare for Friday’s U1P2 Post-Test
  • Chosen Independent reading book due by Friday—bring to class on Friday.

Wednesday, 9/5

  • …organize and brainstorm an original I Am Poem using figurative language”
Procedures:
  • Copy HW in agenda
  • Collect any remaining NTB alternative-ending assignments (actual due date)
  • Bell work: Figurative Language Warm-up on the SMART Board—Ask for volunteers to share their examples with the class.
  • Distribute “I Am Poem” assignment. Read directions and example together.
  • Begin brainstorming and writing rough draft—when complete, have it checked and approved by the teacher before beginning Final Draft (due Friday)
HW:
  • U1P2 pages 14-17 due tomorrow.
  • Continue brainstorming for I Am Poem
  • Prepare for Friday’s U1P2 Post-Test
  • Chosen Independent reading book due by Friday—bring to class on Friday.

Thursday, 9/6

  • …evaluate knowledge of new vocabulary words in practice”
  • …work independently to create I Am poem”
Procedures:
  • Copy HW in agenda
  • Bell Work: MUG Shot on SMART Board
  • Check HW for credit: U1P2 pages . Alternate assignment options due today too. Correct answers together as a class.Continue working on rough draft—get it approved by end of class.

    • Once approved, begin Final draft
HW:
  • Prepare for U1P2 Post-test tomorrow
  • I Am Poem final draft due by end of class tomorrow.
  • Must have chosen independent reading book in class tomorrow!

Friday, 9/7

  • … evaluate and modify I Am Poem rough draft for correctness”
  • …read independently for pleasure”
Procedures:
  • Copy HW in agenda
  • Bell work: Review for U1P2 Posttest by choosing the correct WW vocab word to complete the sentences on the SMART Board.
  • Take U1P2 Post-test.
  • Check HW: independent reading book check.
  • When students have completed their quiz, they may 1) finish their I Am Poem final draft (due by end of period today!) or 2) Quietly and independently read. Implement Dojo points.
